If you’ve been out of the Windows game for a few years and find yourself forced back into it, don’t use
command.exe
to bring up a “DOS” window, use
cmd.exe
The former lacks support for long file names and make “cd”ing a lot more difficult than it needs to be.
Windows is supposed to have a Unix Service that would make this a moot point, but I’m stuck on XP Home so that’s not an option.
